Construction of Zaria New 150mld Water Treatment Plant:
Zaria town and environs have been suffering from acute water shortage for the past 15 years. The situation is increasingly becoming chronic. As a lasting solution to the problem, the State Government awarded the contract for a new 150mld water treatment plant to Mothercat Limited at the cost of N15,711,199,558.14 for a period of 36months. The New Water Treatment Plant is a Regional Scheme intended to serve towns and villages in six Local government Areas. The towns and villages to be served include Zaria City, Wusasa, Tudun Wada, Sabon Gari, Samaru, Shika, Giwa, Mararraban Yakawada, Basawa, Hunkuyi, Kudan, Dambo, Maigana, Soba, Dutsenwai, Kubau and Pambeguwa. Dar-Al Handasah has already been appointed as the Consultants to supervise the construction of the Water Treatment Plant.
