IDB & AfDB Commend KDSG For Commitment to Water Supply
Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and African Development Bank (ADB) have expressed satisfaction with the commitment of Kaduna State Government to the provision of potable water supply. The two financing institutions made the assessment during a joint Mission on Zaria water Supply Expansion Project, 30th May – 11th June 2010.
The Mission was at the 186.1mcm (million cubic metres) Multi-Purpose Galma Dam and the 150mld (million litres daily) Zaria Regional Water Treatment Plant construction sites. The Regional Water Scheme is meant to serve six Local Governments and several towns and villages.
The Joint Mission rounded up activities with stakeholders’ meeting at KONGO Conference Hotel with a view assessing public perception of water project. The stakeholders invited from Schools, Hospitals, Market, Motor Park, Women, NGOs and Customers pledged full support for the project which they viewed as lasting solution to the lingering problem of potable water in Zaria town and environs.
The Mission was conducted round various water project sites by the General Manager of Kaduna State Water Board, Engr. Hassan Mohammed along with other management staff.
