Water Quality
•The drinking water quality standards shall conform with the WHO drinking water quality guidelines.
•All waterworks serving 5,000 people and above to be equipped with a functional water quality laboratory of appropriate capacity.
• Monitor and protect the quality of raw water sources for drinking.
Consumption Standards
• Urban areas as 120 litres per capita per day to be served by full reticulation and consumer premises connection.
• Semi-urban areas as 90 litres per capita per day with reticulation and limited or full house connections.
•Rural areas as 30 litres per capita per day from Standpipes preferably within 250metres of the community and not exceeding 500metres, serving about 250 persons; and
•Peri-urban areas as at least 60 litres per capita per day with reticulation and limited or full house connections.
