ESTABLISHMENT:
The Kaduna State Water Board (KSWB) was established by edict No. 2 of 1971 as a body corporate with perpetual succession and common seal and has the power to sue and be sued in its corporate name. This edict was replaced with Kaduna State Water Board law which came into effect on July 1, 2004.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF KSWB:
- To produce and distribute water to the people of Kaduna State for domestic, commercial and industrial purposes;
- To maintain the distribution system;
- To charge water rates and other services rendered by the Board, with the approval of the state government, in such a way that the revenue for each year would be sufficient or as nearly as may be to pay for all working expenses.
- To collect rates for water consumed by customers.
ORGANIZATIONAL SET UP:
The law provides that the Board shall consist of a Part-time Chairman and not less than thirteen other members who are appointed by the Executive Governor. The Board members shall include a representative each from Ministries of Water Resources and Finance, 2 or 3 members who have knowledge in water supply operations and at least 2 persons representing the interest of consumers.
The General Manager is the Chief Executive Officer of the Board. He is assisted by Assistant General Managers in charge of Administration, Finance, Operations, Projects, Commercial, Corporate Planning, Chief Internal Auditor and Public Relations Manager.
